PRIZREN -- Sunday -- Two unoccupied Serb-owned houses were burnt to
the ground last night in the Podkaljaja settlement, Prizren, Kosovo,
according to Beta's Serbian Orthodox Church sources.
The razed houses are owned by displaced Serbs Todorka Jovanovic and

remain in the family house.
Church sources from the Raska-Prizren district insisted that the act
was intended to "demoralise would-be returnees".
Halimi: Albanians not seeking to alter borders | 20:11 | Beta
PRESEVO -- Sunday -- Razi Halimi, president of the Presevo District
Assembly, has insisted that he does not believe it is likely that
"terrorist groups" from Kosovo will transfer their fight to southern
Serbia's Presevo Valley.
In an interview for Novi Sad's Dnevnik, Halimi said that the biggest
desire of Albanians resident in southern Serbia is the improvement of
their financial position. He added that the majority of Albanians in
the area are not seeking to change borders or form affiliations with
Kosovo.
According to Halimi, the previous conflict in southern Serbia was
"imported" and did not involve locals.

NATO Erklärung
KFOR Press Release
Pristina, 1 July 2003 - #30-03
---------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------
Joint Press Conference on 1 July 2003
Last week witnessed an important visit by the North Atlantic Council
and Lord Robertson, the NATO Secretary General, to Kosovo. They met
with political leaders of Kosovo (SRSG, President, Prime Minister and
the KPC Commander) and gave them a very strong message from the
international community, which we would like to re-iterate: The
International Community remains committed to Kosovo. NATO maintains
its interest and is determined to see the job through to its
completion and preserve the safe and secure environment. Inter-ethnic
violence is still a concern and we believe in zero tolerance for
thugs, criminals and extremists, and are not prepared to see Kosovo
that was saved by NATO turned over to organized criminals or those
who use brutality in the name of ethnic nationalism. Most
importantly, we call upon the people of Kosovo to stand up to these
thugs or be ruled by them. Prime Minister Rexhepi and President
Rugova gave Lord Robertson a very clear statement on their position,
in regard to extremism, their commitment to a multi-ethnic democratic
Kosovo and of taking measures to minimize violence and increase the
attractiveness of Kosovo as a destination for returning refugees and
world investment.
Over the past week KFOR in conjunction with UNMIK-P and KPS,
confiscated the following illegal weapons and ammunition:
14 Rifles and pistols
1 Rocket
8 Grenades/Mines
249 Miscellaneous military items
886 Rounds of ammunition
Finally, on Saturday 5 July 2003, KFOR have sponsored and will
participate with local and municipal authorities in the Mitrovica
Market Day in Ibar Market. The market was built in May 2002 with EU
funds and has never been utilized. We are keen to stimulate interest
and participation by all Kosovars in this economic facility. The
event is open to everyone and will start at 9.30 in the morning and
conclude at 5.00 in the afternoon. There will be entertainment, and
many goods and products at special prices provided by local and
international vendors.

U.S. Office Condemns Triple Murders of Serbs in Obilic
[Pristina, USOP] - Speaking for the U. S. Department of State, Mr.
Reno Harnish, Chief of Mission of the U.S. Office Pristina, condemned
in the harshest possible terms, the triple murder of Slobodan and
Radmila Stolic, and their son, Ljubinko, on Tuesday night in the
Kosovo Municipality of Obilic. The elder Stolices were 80 and 79
respectively, while their son was 55.
"I am simply horrified by this brutal murder of three unarmed
civilians, asleep in their own home, at a time when Kosovo and her
international supporters are working hard to establish a high
standard of human rights and tolerance for all of Kosovo's ethnic
communities," said Mr. Harnish. "The Stolic family, longtime
residents of Kosovo, had lived in Kosovo for many years, and had
stayed in Kosovo after the war for one simple reason: Kosovo is their
home and they wanted to continue living in peace in their home,
sharing a common life with their neighbors.
