(Montel) The Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN) is reviewing the findings of EDF's expertise on the safety valves of its Flamanville EPR, it announced on Monday.
"The matter is under investigation and we will communicate when there is news," an ASN spokeswoman told Montel, declining to give further details.

[i][i]EDF had to carry out valve analyses of the pressurizer of its European pressurized reactor (EPR) under construction at the Flamanville site after Finnish operator TVO spotted a leak last spring on one of the valves of its EPR Olkiluoto 3 (1.6 GW), which is equipped with the same equipment.

The pressurizer's three valves are designed to maintain adequate pressure in the reactor's primary circuit to avoid overpressure. Such a scenario could lead to the failure of the circuit, or even that of the tank, according to the Institute of Radioprotection and Nuclear Safety (IRSN), the technical arm of the ASN.

Replaced drivers
The olkiluoto 3 valves had cracks due to corrosion, and the part that allowed them to be opened or closed, the pilot, will have to be replaced because it is damaged, Finnish safety authority Stuk reported in late October.

With regard to the Flamanville PRT (1.6 GW), the IRSN warned EDF of a risk of leakage of this equipment as early as 2015.

Before the commercial commissioning of its reactor , scheduled for mid-2023, with eleven years of delay , EDF will also have to repair about 100 welds, as well as eight others, more difficult to access, for which the ASN must give the green light in the first quarter.

So weit mir bekannt ist ist der Hersteller (in D?) wg. Bankrott/Unfaehigkeit nicht in der Lage neue einwandfreie Ventile zu liefern.Also werden die alten Ventile geschweisst.
Und wie EdFler bzw. deren Sub-Sub-Sub- .... - Unternehmer schweissen ist allen bekannt.
