Media: New Law in Croatia, Old Customs in Serbia
Slobo did not waste any time in regaining control over Belgrade. One of the important "to do"-s was to oust the pro-Djindjic Studio B director and editor-in-chief and their protector in the Serbian Journalist Society.
B92 missed the attack (again). Well, Veran cleverly spend the worst days in Washington DC, where Milosevic's police still lacks jurisdiction.
Croatia, where Radio 101 shareholders has to be able to raise close to $ 70,000 by the end of the month in order to retain the control over their radio, passed the most insidious media law so far: the new law will not hold journalist liable only for what they said or wrote, but also for what they "intended" with that what they said or wrote. So, whatever you write it can be interpreted as an intended slander and you can go in prison for it. This law is aimed to discourage any independent journalism.
