The most apparent examples of foreign government involvement is the Pecs Water Privatization scandal involving the French company Suez and the French government's attempt to exert diplomatic pressure on its behalf; the privatization conditions of Hungarian electricity companies which the German government has a stake; the purchase of Grippen fighter planes from Sweden. Meanwhile, recent probes in the US have revealed that Daimler had paid bribes to Hungary and 21 other countries in order to secure contracts for the purchase of their vehicles. Finally, the German electronics giant Siemens was involved in a tax evasion scandal in where the company signed consultancy contracts with firms which were in the name of homeless people.
